Morris Wallpaper Installation
HANGING INSTRUCTION MORRIS & CO WALLPAPER
TECHNIQUE
Paste the Paper
BEFORE HANGING
Before hanging, check that rolls are undamaged and that numbers and letters are the same for each of this design and the colours match. Return any defective rolls to your point of purchase. Take extra care when papering around electrical sockets and switches. Do not allow excess moisture to drip onto electrical contacts.
PREPARATION
Prepare the wall by removing dirt, old wallpaper or loose paint. Do not hang wallcoverings on any wall with a history of damp. Fill any cracks and allow to dry before hanging. Absorbent surfaces should be appropriately sized using a diluted wallpaper adhesive following manufacturer’s instructions. Sealed walls i.e. painted, should be rubbed down with sandpaper to create a key. We advise that the walls should be of an even and consistent colour, so that marks do not show through. We recommend that for the best results, the walls be lined horizontally using a good quality lining paper. Allow to fully dry before applying wallcovering. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE SAME ADHESIVE IS USED TO HANG BOTH THE LINING PAPER AND THE WALLCOVERING.
HANGING
For best results, use Sandersons Ready Mixed Adhesive, which is a starch based neutral paste. You may use an equivalent ready mixed starch based premium quality neutral paste. Evenly apply the adhesive to lengths of paper using a brush or shot pile emulsion roller. Apply the wallcovering to the wall and smooth using a good quality hanging brush or plastic spatula. Do not overlap, only use butt joins. CAREFULLY WIPE OF EXCESS PASTE IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN DAMP SPONGE CHANGING THE WATER REGULARLY. After hanging 2-3 lengths, inspect the results to ensure there is no shading or other faults and the paper is suitable in all respects before continuing to completion
