From an original tapestry woven by Morris & Co. at Merton Abbey, Surrey, circa 1885.  This ornate Woodpecker tapestry is unusual, due to the fact that it was one of the very few tapestries designed entirely by William Morris. The swirling leaves, the woodpecker and beautiful colours show the work of the famous 19th century British artist and designer to his full extent. This beautiful tapestry is hand-woven by skilled artisans in pure New Zealand wool, keeping alive the centuries old traditional weaving methods from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging.

Finish on reverse: This tapestry is fully backed with luxury cotton lining incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging purposes.
